Description:
The conflict in Syria is the greatest humanitarian crisis of our times. It has raged for nearly three years, claimed the lives of over 100,000 people, and forced nearly 9 million people from their homes. Sustained action around the world is needed to get sufficient aid to all those caught up in the Syria crisis and to make progress towards a political solution to the conflict. In March 2014, the third anniversary of the Syria conflict will act as a tragic reminder to the world of its failure to stop the suffering.

With more than 11,000 children killed in the conflict, and a million more living as refugees, the need for a powerful campaign calling for action is greater than ever. To this end a global coalition of NGOs and civil society have come together to create a campaign to mark the anniversary with a demonstration of solidarity with ordinary Syrian people. These actions will then culminate in candle-lit vigils attended by thousands of people across the world around major global landmarks from the 12th to the 14th March 2014.

The Coalition projected an image onto Trafalgar Square including Nelson’s Column as both are iconic London landmarks with a striking appearance, prominent positioning and a dramatic profile for the event in the UK.
